Welcome!  It's nice to meet you.  I am honoured to be a part of your emotional healing.  Chances are you are noticing that some things in your life just aren't working anymore, and I can support you find the changes needed in your life to restore balance.  In the counselling setting we can work together to help you get to where you want to be, whether it's daily functioning, interpersonal relationships or something else.

What You Can Expect

Mind-Body Attunement

Trauma and severe or ongoing life stress can take it's toll on our emotional well-being, our relationships and even our physical health.  Essentially, in Mind-Body Attunement Therapy, we will work to improve your emotional regulation by tapping in to the interaction between mind and body and will restructure your neural pathways to increases psychological, social and emotional healing.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019). 

Emotional Healing

There are some events that impact our emotional well-being.  Sometimes they are easier to overcome than others.  Those that are not easily managed can lead to prolonged mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and others.  In this therapy, I can help you to work through the process of healing.  Through my genuine and compassionate style, together we can help you develop emotional health.

Side Effects

Therapeutic interaction can have risks and benefits such as the remembering of unpleasant events and/or may arouse strong emotional feelings.  Therapy can also have an impact in relationships with significant others. The benefits may be an improved ability to relate with others; a more
clear understanding of self, values and goals, increased productivity and an improved ability to deal with everyday life. The risk of not entering into counselling may result in unchanging life situations.

Online Sessions

Surprisingly, online counselling sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions, but you don't have to leave the comfort and privacy of your own home (or wherever you feel is a safe, confidential and secure place).  This also means we can be in different communities.  All that is required for online sessions is privacy and access to a stable internet connection.  Once you book a session you will be provided a link and instructions for how to access the online "room".
